  3. presenter. He was a Labour member of
  4. Parliament 1964-77. Walden was a university
  5. lecturer before entering Parliament.
  6. Disillusioned with party politics, he cut
  7. short his parliamentary career in 1977 and
  8. became presenter of the current-affairs TV
  9. programme Weekend World, with a direct and
  10. uninhibited style of interviewing public
  11. figures. He also contributes to the Sunday
  12. Times and Evening Standard newspapers.
